16 November - Attendance is mandatory!!!
Anglian Windows Sports and Social Club

There was a double triumph for West Norfolk Clubs when North Runcton stormed to victory over Norwich & Coltishall Wanderers in the Bernard Matthews Cup. Hayley East Anglia battled their way through to a memorable victory over Hethersett & Tas Valley in the Norfolk Junior Cup. Hayley East Anglia retain the trophy they won last year.
Both competitions are open to any Norfolk club and is played in a fast and furious 16 x eight ball over format (SUPER8).
In the Bernard Matthews Cup Final, held at Sprowston C C, North Runcton batted first and put on 121-7. Paul Jefferson (51) was striking the ball very sweetly and hit a couple of memorable sixes. The pick of the Norwich & Coltishall bowling was Elliott 3-24. Norwich & Coltishall Wanderers were dismissed for 96 but not before David Treglown (32) began smashing the ball to all ends of the ground. His innings included 4 sixes.
However the man of the Match was North Runcton's Joe Pipkin who bowled superbly to take 5-21 and effectively win the match. He also took an outstanding catch.
The Norfolk Junior Cup Final also played at Sprowston was a roller coaster of a ride with both side looking capable of winning right up to the end.
Hetheresett & Tas Valley scored 142-6 in their first inning with brilliant performances from Tim Shelley (41) and Matthew Ellis (33). Haley East Anglia looked to have the match sewn up with Simon Darlow (39) and A. Nichol (33) scoring freely, when suddenly they had a mid order collapse and found themselves on 115-7. However Messrs Melton (11no) and Neil Irwin (13 no) kept their heads and safely steered Hayley East Anglia to their victory. Hayley finished on 144-8.
A nail biting performance and one that all those who watched will remember for many years to come.
Currently there is only one extra place available in the league for next season!

It was a terrifc day. There was a huge crowd and the weather
could hardly have been better.
My
thanks go to all four teams who entertained us royally. Both
matches were absorbing with some great shots and some fine
bowling. Everyone seemed very happy with the way the day went.
My
thanks also go the Sprowston C C who looked after us, yet
again,
excellently. Carl, Steve, Sylvia, Jane and Shaun did us
proud. Thank you.
Kind regards
Colin
