Played at Ingham between Vauxhall Mallards and Swardeston.

cricket cup competition reached its exciting final on Sunday at the
picturesque setting of Ingham. Vauxhall Mallards mounted an
exhilarating display of batting to clinch the Challenge Cup for the
second year running. A young Swardeston side demonstrated how
excellent fielding can turn matches. In the process they
restricted Vauxhall Mallards to 204 off their 40 overs, which was 30
runs short of a safe score. The drama then unfolded.
Vauxhall Mallards won the toss and elected to bat but must have
wondered at the wisdom of this decision when Ali Turner was
spectacularly caught by Ben Hogg for just 1 run. However
Richard 'Izzy' Goodenough (55) and Robert Purton (40) steadied the ship
and took the score to 83 before Robert Purton was unlucky to be run out
when backing up. James Shipley (31) and Matthew Seager (23)
continued to push the score along. However a free flowing
innings from Reynoe Arendse (44) delighted the crowd with a style that
is reminiscent of the great Garry Sobers.
However, just as Vauxhall Mallards were looking as though they were
running away with the match, Swardeston struck back through wickets
from Dale Reynolds (3 for 35) and Will Kennard (2 for 48).
In reply, Stephen Cadge (31) and Johnny Martin (48) for Swardeston
mounted an impressive response to some formidable bowling from James
Ing (4 for 24) and Reynoe Arendse (2 for 22). At
the 20th over Swardeston were still very much on track for
victory. However, the drinks interval seemed to revitalise
the Vauxhall Mallards bowling and wickets began to tumble.
James Ing blasted out the tail with a fine display accurate fast
yorkers.
